This state government hospital is regarded as the biggest general hospital in Kano and one of the largest in Sub Saharan Africa. It has well equipped departments in all major disciplines. The hospital also has an impressively large maternity unit which conducts 13000 deliveries yearly. An 80 bed 2 story building was also constructed in this unit. The surgery division has units in many major specialties and its new blood bank was established in 2009 and provides excellent service.
