How to Improve Your Oral Health With Simple Ayurvedic Technique

May 25, 2023

Ayurveda is a holistic system of healing which evolved in India some 3000-5000 years ago. Oil pulling or oil swishing is a powerful detoxifying Ayurvedic technique that is becoming very popular recently as an alternative medicine remedy for many different health ailments.

The person behind reviving this ancient technique is Dr. Karach. He wrote a research paper that documented a healing procedure involving cold pressed oils. Using this method, one could heal a lot of chronic illnesses, preventing the need for surgery or medication. Dr. Karach postulates that if we were to do this simple regimen every single day, we could potentially live up to 130-150 years old. This claim is backed by many other scientists.

He claims that the following illnesses can be effectively healed with the application of oil therapy: headaches, bronchitis, lung and liver conditions, toothache, gum disease, thrombosis, blood diseases, arthritis, paralysis, eczema, gastric ulcers, intestinal disorders, heart and kidney ailments, nervous conditions and female disorders. The oil therapy is preventative as well as curative.

The exciting factor of this healing method is its simplicity. It consists of swishing cold-pressed vegetable oil in the mouth for about 20 minutes. Ayurveda advises oil gargling to purify the entire system; as according to this life science, each section of the tongue is connected to different organ such as to the kidneys, lungs, liver, heart, small intestines, stomach, colon, and spine.

Dr R. Ballantyne, who has studied Ayurveda and Chinese medicine, says that the tongue “is an indicator of what is going on in the body.” A fiery red tongue depicts an irritated digestion; a pale shade, low digestion; and a purple tongue, a liver burdened with toxics.

So how can you can benefit from this technique and improve your oral health significantly?

First of all I would recommend to everybody to try oil pulling and see how it works for you. Here we are talking about a very simple, non-invasive technique that just might improve your health. I am pretty sure that you will be amazed with results.

In following paragraphs I will get into the specifics of the method. Here is how one would do oil pulling.

To start with you will need some vegetable oil of your choice. Try to get unrefined and organic oil whenever it is possible.

Not all vegetable oils are made equal; some oils perform better than the others according to my experience and according to numerous testimonials. Dr. Karach recommends highly use of sunflower and sesame oil. It could be sesame, sunflower, peanut, walnut, almond, olive, coconut amongst others. You should experiment with different oils and see which one fits you the best.

My personal all time favorite is sesame oil. I have noticed that if you change your oil about every two month, it is like a renewed therapy. It is hard to explain why, perhaps body is getting used to that particular EFA formula. Add a drop of peppermint or oregano oil to your oil pulling and you have a powerful anti-bacterial agent. Oregano oil is potent natures anti-biotic, so it should not be abused.

In the morning before breakfast on an empty stomach take one tablespoon of oil and slowly swish it in the mouth and draw it through the teeth for fifteen to twenty minutes. To accelerate the healing, this process can be repeated three times a day, but always before meals, on an empty stomach.

As our digestive juices dilute it, it becomes thin and milk-white in color. The oil must not be swallowed, for it has become toxic than spit it from the mouth into the toilet bowl. If the oil is still yellow and files “oily”, it has not been masticated thoroughly or long enough.

After the oil has been removed from the mouth, the oral cavity must be thoroughly rinsed several times. It is preferable to use a cup of warm water to which has been added one-half teaspoon of salt and on-half teaspoon of baking soda. The teeth, gums and tongue must be brushed carefully. It is recommended that salt and soda be applied directly to the brush. After rinsing, gargle with the warm salt-soda water. Then tip the cup under the nose and gently sniff up the water to clean the nasal passages. Gently blow the nose.

The sink must be cleaned because the spittle contains harmful bacteria and toxic bodily waste. Dr Karach examined the gargled milk-white oil under a microscope. He saw, live organisms swimming in it. It’s poisonous, so never swallow it, he warns. These poisons are bacteria-embryos, which, if not eliminated, cause diseases.

Here is what Dr Karach said: “The oil therapy heals tooth pain completely. Obvious results are re-fixing of loose teeth, whitening of the teeth, stops bleeding gums. One outstanding result of oil pulling is fixing loose teeth which no dentist can do.”

For me, oil pulling has cleared sinus infection, eliminated sensitivity of teeth, made teeth whiter and shiner, hardened enamel, improved gum condition, given me softer skin, and a higher boost of energy throughout the day. Oil pulling therapy is something I will continue to do, and I recommend you all try it and see what it does for you!

Basically, in my opinion, oil pulling is one of the very best ways to stimulate the body natural healing abilities. You can do the oil pulling every morning. It can be powerfully detoxifying, so you might want to take a break when you like. First thing in the morning, 15-20 minutes of oil pulling, is one of the wisest things you could for your health.
